James L. Hawley, DPN, APRN, NP-C, joined Field Health System’s team of medical professionals as a full-time  Nurse Practitioner in 2014. He is dual board certified in Family and Emergency medicine through the American Academy of Nurse Practitoners. Hawley sees patients at the Centreville Clinic in Centreville, MS and the Liberty Clinic in Liberty, MS and provides medical services for all age groups. Additionally he covers shifts in our Emergency Department.

A native of Franklin County and Hamburg, MS, Hawley received his Associates Degree as well as his Bachelor Degree of Science in Nursing at Alcorn State University.  He received his Master of Science in Nursing from the University Of Southern Mississippi in 2014. Hawley completed post-graduate training at UMMC in the TelEmergency program. He later went on to pursue his Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Arkansas State University, graduating in 2021. Post-graduate study focused on end of life care and advanced directives. His prior experience includes working as an RN at Field Memorial Community Hospital, Franklin County Memorial Hospital, and ICU at Natchez Regional, Natchez Community Hospital, and AAA Ambulance of Hattiesburg as an EMT.  In 2024, he was the winner of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners State Award for Excellence.

Hawley began his career in healthcare as a combat medic back in 2001 where he served two tours of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom with the U.S. Army attached to an Infantry Unit.
